To Tenerife South with kids, what can you do there? ⋆ Sparkles Inside

Tenerife, one of the largest Canary Islands, is a great destination for a family holiday, especially if you plan to visit the southern part of the island. The south of Tenerife is known for its beautiful beaches, warm weather and fun activities for both adults and children. However, traveling with children can be a challenge, especially if you are not familiar with the area. Here are some tips to help you plan a successful trip to Tenerife South with kids, because I have to admit, traveling to Spain with kids is so much fun.

Plan ahead and do your research before a trip to Tenerife

Going on vacation with kids can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. If you are planning a trip to Tenerife with your kids, one of the most important things you can do is do your research beforehand. There are plenty of family-friendly activities and accommodations in Tenerife, but it’s important to know what you’re getting into before you arrive. Look for hotels or condos with amenities such as pools, playgrounds, and kids’ clubs. Research the best beaches for families and learn about local attractions that your kids will enjoy. By doing your research, you can ensure that your trip to Tenerife with your kids is a success.

Choose the right accommodation

When planning a family holiday to Tenerife South, choosing the right accommodation is crucial. There are many family-friendly hotels, resorts and apartments in Tenerife, but it’s important to consider your family’s needs and preferences. Look for accommodations with amenities such as pools, playgrounds, and kid’s clubs to keep your kids entertained. If you have a baby, look for accommodations with cribs and high chairs. Also consider the location of your accommodation, as staying near attractions and beaches can make your trip easier and more enjoyable. With the right accommodation, your family can have a comfortable and fun holiday in Tenerife.

Tenerife South airport closed

I read on facebook that the airport of Tenerife South was closed, but this is not correct. There are regular flights to Tenerife South with Transavia. We also flew with Transavia and it is therefore not correct that you then fly to Tenerife North as standard. Well, the island is not huge and it wouldn’t be a world disaster if we flew to Tenerife North, but still.

Rent a car

a rental car is really a must if you are in Tenerife. We had booked an apartment in Erjos, and this place was quite remote. We also rented our car through Topcars and were able to pick up the car at the airport. I had booked the car through, because we had booked an apartment through the same site, we did get a 10% discount.

Nice towns Tenerife South

You have so many nice towns in Tenerife. I myself really liked Playa des Americas. You have everything there. A nice boulevard, plenty of play options for kids and super tasty food. It is, however, very touristy.

Bring sunscreen and hats to Tenerife South

If you are traveling to Tenerife with children, it is important to bring enough sunscreen and hats. The sun in Tenerife can be very strong and children’s skin is particularly sensitive. It is important to apply sunscreen regularly throughout the day, especially if you spend time at the beach or doing outdoor activities. Hats can also provide additional protection from the sun’s harmful rays. By taking these simple steps you can ensure that your children stay safe and healthy while enjoying all that Tenerife South has to offer.

Stay hydrated

Furthermore, it is important to make sure that your children stay hydrated throughout the day. The hot weather and constant activity can lead to dehydration if kids don’t drink enough water. Make sure you take enough water with you when you go out and encourage your children to drink water regularly. Dehydration can cause fatigue, headaches and even fainting, so it’s important to make sure your kids drink enough water to stay healthy and enjoy their holiday to the fullest.

Visit Siam park

Siam Park is one of the best places to visit in Tenerife South with kids. This water park offers a wide variety of attractions for children of all ages, from thrilling water slides to the fun wave pool. Children can spend hours exploring the park’s Kids Zone, with mini slides, water jets and a shallow pool for the little ones to play in. The park also has a lazy river, a giant wave pool and plenty of places to grab a snack or a drink. Whether you are visiting Tenerife for a week or just a few days, Siam Park is well worth a visit for a fun family day out.

Let kids play at Siam Mall

Siam Mall, located next to Siam Park, is not huge in terms of shops, I thought. What is very nice is the play paradise on top of the roof. You buy a ticket and you put credit on it and the kids can play with it. Parking is free and the catering at the play paradise itself is reasonable. On the other side of the Siam mall you have the Starbucks, and we went there for delicious cheesecake with coffee. Even though I keep finding the Starbucks overpriced, I always go back there.

Go to the beach

Going to the beach in Tenerife South with kids can be a lot of fun, but it’s important to take some precautions. Make sure you bring enough sunscreen and hats to protect your children from the bright sun. Always keep an eye on your children, especially when they are playing in the water. Some beaches in Tenerife have lifeguards, but it’s always best to exercise caution. And don’t forget to bring some beach toys and games to keep your kids entertained! Some great beaches for families in Tenerife are Playa de las Américas, Playa de los Cristianos and Playa del Duque.

Visit Monkey Park in Tenerife South

If you’re planning a family trip to Tenerife, Monkey Park is one of the must-visit attractions for kids. Located in the south of Tenerife, Monkey Park is a small zoo that offers visitors an interactive experience. Kids can feed the animals, including monkeys, parrots and meerkats, and learn about their habitats and behavior. The park also has a playground and picnic area, making it a great place to spend a day with the family. It is important to note that Monkey Park is committed to animal welfare and conservation, so visitors can rest assured that the animals are well cared for and treated with respect.

Visit Loro Park

A visit to the Loro Parque is great fun for children. This is a zoo, but I didn’t think it was cheap. I think you paid 40 euros for a ticket and if you want to go on the small roller coaster, you pay another euro pp for it. The restaurants in the zoo are very different from what you are used to in the Netherlands, for example you also have a buffet restaurant.
