Turkey’s yachting sector is a thriving and emerging industry that is gaining worldwide recognition. The order books of Turkish shipyards are full and nowadays more and more well-known yachts are anchored in and around Turkish waters, partly because of Russians who secure their yachts here.
Who is Turkish media mogul Acun Ilıcalı?
As one of the most influential and prosperous figures in Turkey, Acun Ilıcalı has built an unparalleled wealth and an extensive collection of properties, including the English football club Hull City AFC. A few years ago he even had talks to take over the Dutch football club Fortuna Sittard, but this takeover failed.
However, Ilıcalı has earned his money as a channel boss. His company, Acun Medya, makes television productions, but also hosts huge international entertainment events. Although the now 53-year-old grandfather started his career as a sports reporter, he currently produces daily programs for the largest television channels in Turkey.
The millionaire lives like a king. Not only a palatial residence in Istanbul, with its extensive gardens and a view of the Bosphorus, is highly coveted, but also its 47-meter yacht BALMY, built by the Turkish shipyard Mengi Yay Yachts, appeals to the imagination. The yacht was delivered to him a few weeks ago and Enes Yilmazer had the pleasure of giving a tour on board.
