We are generally kept well informed about every Windsors event – the Court Circular is there for a reason, shall we say. Sometimes the British royals manage to surprise us, like Princess Kate today at the Chelsea Flower Show.
Sea of flowers
For many years it was a fixture in the agenda of the late HM Queen Elizabeth: the Chelsea Flower Show. Liz showed up almost every year – from a young princess on her mother’s side, to one of the rare trips she took in the year of her death.
The Windsors have always had a special relationship with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and their Chelsea Flower Show, and that was made even more clear today. Suddenly there was a crown princess at the entrance, who (dressed in Beau Mondes favorite color) came to take a look on the opening day of the colorful exhibition.
Kate came out looking great in a pink dress from the ME+EM label, which we’ve seen before. This dress has a particularly sweet meaning for Kate. For example, HM wore this bubble gum pink dress in 2021 during her meeting with Mila Sneddon, a then five-year-old girl with leukemia. Earlier, the two had already spoken on the phone, with Kate promising to wear a real pink princess dress if she could ever meet Mila in real life. And so it happened.

Now the princess dress can make another appearance, this time in the middle of a sea of flowers. It doesn’t get much more magical! With Kate’s choice of pink, the princess also seems to pay a sweet tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth, who appeared in almost exactly the same shade of pink on her last visit to the show.
Well, all well and good, but it has to be done in the context of it useful dulci there is also a certain use to such a dreamy appearance in a bona fide princess dress. Kate therefore settled down in the grass with a richly filled picnic basket, where she entered into conversations with the school children present. This was a first for Kate as it was the first time the Children’s Picnic had taken place – but it left a taste for more and should become an annual part of the floral spectacle.
It is said that the idea of the picnic came from the princess herself. For example, in 2019 Catherine had already dropped in conversation with the RHS that she thought it would be a good idea to involve more children in the show. Even as a true fairytale princess, Kate loses her royal duty keep an eye out!
