Not surprising, because January 13 is his birthday, but whether the song is really about him is so far only a rumor that is circulating in the corridors. But none other than Miley Cyrus has now revealed the real meaning behind one of her biggest hits, ‘flowers’is.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth first met on the set of the movie in 2009 The Last Song. Here they fell madly in love with each other, but only had a relationship for a short time. Still, they found each other again and got engaged in 2012, but broke up again, before getting engaged again in 2016.

This seemed to be going well, as the couple got married in 2018. Still, it seemed that Miley and Liam were too different from each other, so they broke up again in 2019 and they finally finalized the divorce in 2020. And while Miley and Liam both have new partners, the breakup still seems here and there hurt a little more.

Meaning of the song ‘Flowers’

At the beginning of this year, Miley Cyrus released the song ‘flowers’ out, which seemed like an obvious sneer at her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth. Yet Miley has now revealed in her cover interview with British Vogue that the song originally had a very different message.

The number, as we know it, is awful empowermentbut that was not always the case. “I wrote it in a really different way,” says Miley. “The chorus was originally: ‘I can buy myself flowers, write my name in the sand, but I can’t love me better than you can.’ It used to be more, like, 1950s. The saddest song. Like: ‘Sure, I can be my own lover, but you’re so much better.’” Still, Miley decided to change the number. “The song is a little fake it till you make it,” she adds. “Which I’m a big fan of.”

The singer also says that her album Endless Summer Vacation isn’t some kind of diary to be interpreted literally or her music videos are littered with clues about her past. “I never need to be a master at the craft of tricking an audience,” she says. “It will set itself on fire all by itself.”

While she may never admit it, fans are convinced that ‘flowers’ about Liam and we have to say the clues are very convincing. So it looks like the text ‘Build a home and watch it burn’ a reference is to the former couple’s house in Malibu that was destroyed by a fire in 2018 and we could go on and on.

We will probably never hear from Miley whether the song is really about him, but we do have our suspicions.
