In some states in the United States, it is already possible to add a digital version of your driver’s license to Apple’s Wallet app. There are also countries in the EU that work with a digital driving license, including Denmark, Spain and Greece. The European Union wants to expand this further.
There was already talk of a digital version for EU citizens in 2016, and there have been new developments since this spring. The European Commission has announced new road safety plans, and the digital driving license is part of it.
