The third season is currently in the works Bridgerton. Colin, the third brother in the row, will play the leading role. That is striking, because the third book in the original book series does not focus on Colin, but on Benedict. Author Julia Quinn now explains more about that decision.
Who the first two seasons of Bridgerton who knows that the main thread in the series is about to explode. Exactly how that will happen, the third season will answer that. That season is about Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Caughlin).
The first two seasons of Bridgerton followed the first two books by writer Julia Quinn. Season 1, for example, focused on Daphne Bridgerton’s (Phoebe Dynevor) love story with Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page). The even more popular second season followed the romance of Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).
The third book in the series focuses on the love life of Benedict Bridgerton, the second oldest brother. But that will be discussed later in the Netflix series, because season 3 will revolve around Colin and Penelope. That is striking, but according to the way the series goes, it is not a big surprise either.
“Too much work”
Earlier, showrunner Jess Brownell explained that that choice was made because it is “the right time for Colin and Penelope”. Now author Julia Quinn also follows that line of reasoning. She says that in an interview with Insider. “They have already worked so much on a foundation for this couple. We already know Penelope and the love interests of Benedict we have never met. And also: once we’ve seen the story of one of the Bridgertons, we don’t often see them again afterwards. So if you like Benedict, you probably don’t mind waiting a little longer.”
