The Bilderberg conference has started in Lisbon. The police are present in large numbers and bomb dogs have even been deployed. The street where the participants arrive is closed with crush barriers and barricades.

In the coming days, the attendees will talk about artificial intelligence, the banking system, China, the energy transition, Europe, fiscal challenges, India, NATO, Russia, Ukraine and American leadership.
Ben van Beurden from Shell, Dolf van den Brink from Heineken, Professor Victor Halberstadt from Leiden University, Minister of Finance Sigrid Kaag, Rolly van Rappard from CVC Capital Partners, Prime Minister Rutte and Peter Wennink from ASML will participate in the meeting on behalf of the Netherlands.
Other notable names include: director of Vattenfall Anna Borg, Pfizer boss Albert Bourla, president of the World Economic Forum Børge Brende, Henry Kissinger, Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg, president of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola and EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell.
