arriving in Japan for G7 summit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky travels the world to lobby allies for more support for his country. On Friday he attended the Arab League summit in Riyadh, arriving in Japan on Saturday morning. There he will attend the G7 summit in Hiroshima.

Why is this important?

Now that the conflict in Ukraine has been going on for more than a year, this is also weighing on relations with allies. Many countries are reluctant to accept many more deliveries, or simply have too little material in stock to be able to donate. An important part of Zelensky’s tour is therefore also the search for new allies, with ammunition or other weapons in stock.

The city, once laid in ruins by the American nuclear bomb Little Boy, is the theater for a G7 summit, where the leaders of seven major industrial powers meet. On Friday, the same plane took the Ukrainian to Saudi Riyadh, where he attended the meeting of the Arab League.
