7 new iPhone features to expect at WWDC

The WWDC, Apple’s developer conference, will start in just over two weeks. We can also expect the necessary news about the iPhone and iOS 17 there. These new features may be announced.

iOS 17 is the new operating system for iPhone that should be released during the release of the 15 series. That is probably sometime around September of this year. As we are used to from Apple, it means a lot of new features. But what exactly can we expect?

This is what we expect from the iPhone and iOS 17 at WWDC

During WWDC, Apple will present new features for the iPhone, although it is sometimes questionable whether they will really come immediately. For example, things have been announced for iOS 16 that have still not appeared. We tell you what we expect and hope for iOS 17.

#1 New App Stores

Apple is under pressure from the European Union. Not only does it need to add a USB-C port on the iPhone, the software also needs to be modified. It believes that Apple has a monopoly on this, so competition is not possible.

Therefore, there must be several providers of apps. For example, you could think of Microsoft with gamestore on the iPhone. When exactly Apple will allow this is unknown, but it may be with iOS 17.

#2 Renewed internet browsers

In terms of competition, things may also change in the field of internet browsers. Until now, providers such as Google Chrome, Opera and Microsoft Edge have had to use Apple’s Webkit. There are rumors that in iOS 17 browsers will be allowed to use their own made engine.

#3 New design for various Apple apps

If we are to believe the rumors, various Apple apps such as Wallet and Health will be overhauled. These two get a slightly different look. In addition, it should also be possible to search better in apps.

#4 Interactive Widgets

Widgets have been a permanent part of the iPhone since iOS 14. With iOS 17 they could be updated. Now widgets only display information, but we may be able to do more with them in the new version. What about a switch or a scroll function, for example.

#5 A new control panel for the iPhone

For your iPhone’s control panel, swipe down from the top right corner of your screen. There you will see various functions that you can use immediately. This has been the same for years, but will be overhauled in iOS 17. What exactly it will look like remains to be seen.

#6 Improvement for the Dynamic Island on the iPhone

Apple launched the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max last year. The regular versions will probably also get the camouflage for the notch with the iPhone 15. So there is still plenty of room for improvements.

Especially when we talk about the third party apps. So it is quite possible that Apple will give them more space in the function in iOS 17, making the feature for the iPhone even better.

#7 CarPlay innovations in iOS 17

CarPlay itself is of course not new, but we are still waiting for a number of innovations that were announced for iOS 16. We may see that in iOS 17. It would, among other things, support cars that have multiple screens and can read more information from the car itself, such as the radio and climate control.
